Can you always tell when someone has a weave? Guess again?

I am black and I happen to have really long, thick hair- which is natural. Some people (all races) automatically assume it isn't mine because a lot of black girls don't have long nice hair and sometimes resort wearing long weaves. I have even been told by several people that they assumed it was fake because they didn't think black people could have real hair that was as nice as mine. I have run into a lot of ignorant people who SWEAR that Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Carmen Electra, etc.. never wear weaves and they make it seem like weave a "black thing." Have you ever dealt with anything like this?

Yes I have thick naturally curly hair and ppl would always assume that is was a weave. Now that I have mid-back length locks they still ask is it all my hair. The funny (or sad)part is that mostly African Americans ask those questions. Like they don't know their hair can grow too if they take care of it and leave the chemicals alone.

Well, a friend of mine (a guy) had a weave when he was aged 32.

It looked great. He had ginger hair and they matched it perfectly.

Now he is 73 and it looks stupid - it's still the same colour but his own hair round the back and sides are white.
