Coloring my hair?

I'm medium to drak brunette and I want to color my hair blonde, via highlights and weaving it in. my worry is that I wont like it, and ill want to go back to brunette, is it safe in that case to use store bough hair color, without turning my hair orange?

Store bought hair color will most definitely turn your hair orange.

If you want to try a few highlights, and they don't have to be platinum blonde, they can be a darker blonde color which would look better on your dark hair to make it look more natural..I suggest going to a salon and having your hair foiled by a professional.

They know what products to use, how to mix the colors to give you exactly what you want. They can show you color samples. They know how long to leave it on and check it frequently. Their products aren't as harsh as store bought products.

If you have it done by a salon and absolutely hate it...they will usually fix your hair back until you are satisfied..without charging you more!

Just stay natural because it`s when you look great.

Your natural hair make you very beautiful with original beauty than when it`s colored.

I would be very careful especially since you are going from dark to light. I have colored my hair for years but have never gone more than two colors lighter. I have medium brown and have gone to dark blood and it was ok. I would go to a hair dresser, one that you know because they would have to bleach your hair first before they could make you a blood with high lights. One tip I found out a long time ago is that my hair grabs the color very fast so before I use coloring I first put a good bit of conditioner on the hair and let it set for about ten minutes than I color my hair on top of the conditioner and it keeps it from getting too much color especially on the ends. That way I can do it about every four to five weeks. I would say I have 3/4 white hair and it is harder to cover. I hope this helps.

If you have a lot of red undertones in your hair, don't do it at home the first time. Your hair will be brassy orange and you will look like a tiger.

If u want to dye your dark hair blonde with out it turning a strawberry blonde u need to buy a bleach to first bleach your normal color out. bleach till its a blonde and then dye the highlight your wanting. but do not dye blonde over brown or light brown

it is very difficult to good results with store bought hair color you do yourself...if you really want to brighten your brunette with highlights and weaves, I would suggest going to a professional hair stylist.

I know thats not the answer you wanted to hear, but I've done mine myself several times - and it just never looks as good as when I get it done at the salon.

Good Luck - and have FUN!

No point in changing hair colour. Especially from dark to blond.

And blondes aren't as beautiful as many people think...

Try a non-permanent color then if you don't like it then after several washings it will come out. Have you tried chunking? do a few strand in the front and it will let you get use to the blonde around the front. make sure if you get a store brand that you buy the brightest blonde or you are gonna turn strawberry blond (orange) my best advice is to go to a salon and you pay for the strands only and they have the right mixtures and if you really like it then you can do the upkeep with a store brand and buy only Preference by Loreal don't use the cheap products they will fry your hair, now if your hair is of African-American origin don't use my advice there is a whole line of products for that hair type I wouldn't want anyone burning or breaking their hair. good luck. I tease my husband because he may leave in the morning and when he comes home I have a different color, I told him to look on the bright side he doesn't ever have to have an affair because he gets a new woman all the time LOL!

Brunettes have a lot of underlying red tones to their hair naturally... What this means? Yes... you will probably turn orange or very yellow. You really should go to the salon to make this sort of change, as they will assess your hair color and determine the correct volume developer and processing time for your natural pigment and texture. Doing this at home... may leave your hair orange, and if you do lift to the correct shade.... damaged. Any intensive chemical service should be done in the salon where you have specialists assessing your hair individually, and treating it as needed. Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but I hope this helps.
