as a black women i have to say this! stop putting so much weaves in your hair! its not real! we are not white girls!our hair will never be naturally silky straight( then is not to say all white people have silky straight hair. but you get my point) do you know why most black women's hair won't grow.because of the weaves.the glue and tracks cut off the oxygen the hair is supposed to get.as a result it doesn't grow and sometimes the hair breaks off.

First of all, if your weave is put in by a professional your hair will grow not fall out. I know several woman that have weaves put in to grow their hair out and to give there hair a break from chemicals and heat. Second, it's a style not an effort to be white or look white. It's an option just as a relaxer, wave, texturizer or braids are. If your shallow enough to believe that all black woman get weaves to be more like white people than you won't understand that it is an option and that black women and the styles they choose to use do not define who they are. It's just a style.

I want to start by saying I am not a girl so I'll just try to give my objective opinion. I think that any person that wants to do something to make them feel better is okay as long as they aren't dangerous (like surgery). Every race has differing characteristics and nobody should be ashamed of their appearance because of it. I guess I'm saying be proud of who you are and your ancestry. Be happy with yourself. If it takes a weave, be aware of the risks to your hair. As an old man I can tell you that in the 1960's there was a slogan going around saying "black is beautiful". I hope you think it is. If you want a change just do it with caution. Your friends should love you as you are. Please don't do it for a man!!! Isn't a weave expensive anyway?

Black women aren't the only women that wear weaves. Why are you so concerned with what other ppl do with their hair? Worry about your own hair and get a life!!!!

Some black people really do have naturally straight hair, most of my great great grandmother's brothers %26amp; sisters had natrally straight hair. %26amp; her hair is pretty straight too, some curls %26amp; waves, but most of it is straight.

I am a black girl %26amp; I've never had a weave cause I have enough hair %26amp; it's long, but I would like too get 1, I'm not gonna say it's m real hair, %26amp; I'm not gonna have a crazy lookin 1 either.

It's been out of hand for a minute. Firstly, no Black woman needs weave EVER! The only women who should NEED weave are those suffering from leukemia, alopecia, or some other hair-depleting sickness/disorder. I know I'm gonna sound like a Brotha-Man; nevertheless, the truth is the truth. One of the main reasons Black women wear weaves is because of slavery. With that, I don't simply mean all Black women who wear weaves consciously or subconsciously want to be white in a sense, even though it does play a part in many Black women, admitted or not. What I mean rather is that through slavery, a lot of cultural practices and traditions were lost. As a result, you have a people who never really learned to take care of their hair. With that, and the self-hatred/white beauty/divinity of slavery, you've got a people who see drowning their hair in completely unnecessary AND unnatural chemicals a.k.a. "relaxing" as the route to obtain "good hair," or using weave to obtain that illusion; As if there were something wrong with their natural hair. I don't judge much self-image on the opinions of others, but I honestly do wonder sometimes what whites and Latinos think when they see Black women with weave. I think THEY think it's amusing and that Black women's hair...just can't grow. There's a DVD, by Aron Ranen, basically about how Koreans are controlling the billion dollar hair care industry, while most of the consumers are Black women. It goes on to say the Koreans aren't giving Blacks jobs and this and that, mostly BS, honestly. If as Black people, we took pride in what we were given instead of trying to be what we aren't, we wouldn't have "outsiders" not "taking care/advantage" of our people and not pocketing "Black" dollars, that never see the Black community. Sometimes, I wish it was the 60's! I really do. We were much prouder, much nore united, more ambitious, less docile, and it continues. That's that. One Love, y'all. Peace.

White people wear weaves too, as do people of other races. I personally do not like them, and as a black woman, I have never had a weave, and my hairs grows long (right now it's short.) It could be because I use very few chemicals, and treat my hair properly. It grows faster than many white girl's hair. I don't knock those that do it, I just choose to be all natural and my hair, nails, and eyes are all real!
