African American/Black ladies...how do you tell a man that you wear a weave?

Ok, so, I know all about hair, and I know that some of us african-americans don't have it. If my hair is not in braids (which most of the time it is), I get pieces put into my hair. I'm about to make the switch now, but there is this guy that I'm talking to now and I'm afraid that when I get my hair done, he's going to feel my head (all men do) and be turned off that he feels lumps. So the question is, how do you deal with this situation ladies?

Well, I'm Dominican, my hair grows out long on it's own. However, even though my hair is half way down my back I Still wear weaves because it keeps my hair from being damaged when I want to wear it straight or something. It also gives me a lot of versatility as far as shorter hairstyles without cutting my own hair. My boyfriend is White from a small town, he didn't even know what a weave was when we first started dating. One day, I just told him, set him down showed him how a sew-in works and explained it to him. He could care less. He loves me with braids, weaves or natural. LOL, just tell him. If he genuinely likes you he won't care. Everyone wears weaves these days from Beyonce to Paris Hilton to Britany Spears to Jennifer Lopez, it's not a big deal.

Just tell him that you wear a weave. If he's a black man he should already know the we don't have lots of hair. My hubby knows that i wear one and he don't give a damn. It's better than walking around ballheaded. Right?

most men know the difference between weave and hair.. you dont have a situation he already knows your hair is fake

i dunno dont most people already know that basically all girls wear extensions these days?...LOL its really not a big deal...its not like you have breast implants or anything...its just a weave...

I know this is bad but, my BF saw some pics in my phone where I had long hair which was actually a weave. Now all of my weaves look natural. So now of course I dont have it anymore. So, my BF said what happended to ur hair. I said I was going through some changes at the time and I cut it off. And he was like niiice!

If he is black, he should understand this. If he is not black, then you might have a bit of explaining to do. You will basically have to tell them the whole process, and they just want to understand black methods more, you know? Whatever you do, be honest, don't say its your real hair.
